Starry Night is an exploration of typographic manipulation. I researched an influential historic figure and wrote an essay about them. That writing was then turned into a visual essay allowing the viewer to recognize the subject of the poster with out needing to read the copy or explicitly naming the person. Hopefully obviously, my focus was famously tragic artist Vincent Van Gogh.

This project was a gateway into learning how to merge traditional, handmade art with my digitally created designs. The large letters in STARRY NIGHT were hand painted and then scanned onto the poster. This method also assisted in creating the paint stroke pattern used throughout the poster.
