Rewritten explores human connection across cultures through the intimacy of handwriting. In a digital world, handwritten words offer presence and authenticity, like fingerprints of shared emotion. The project centers on collaborative journals that invite honesty and empathy, reminding us that while experiences differ, feelings are universal.
The design blends neutral tones and greens to reflect life and growth, incorporating handwritten elements drawn from my own writing of the word friend in dozens of languages. This motif appears in both the gallery installation and website, where hand-drawn characters foster inclusivity and belonging.
Displayed at Bowling Green State University’s 2025 BFA Thesis Exhibition: Epitome, Rewritten was supported by a Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship Grant.
